CANAL BOAT WORLD AT LONDON ON-WATER 2017

16 March, 2017

Canal Boat World at London On-Water 2017 shows just how living on a canal boat, or hiring one for that laid back holiday you have always dreamed of, can be achieved.

Over the past two centuries, London, the surrounding counties and indeed the whole of the country, have been famed for their extensive range of inland waterways where cargoes of goods were transported, way before ‘Amazon’ was heard of!

Once a forgotten lifestyle, canal boating is now enjoying a real resurgence in popularity, not for commercial traffic, but for leisure boaters who find the peace and tranquillity of canal boats a truly joyful way of life. Indeed, many people are so entranced with the idea of ‘messing about in boats’ as a lifestyle choice that an estimated 20,000 are leaving dry land behind to live on boats on the UK canal system with the freedom to move on whenever mood or weather or job may take you.

Maybe you want to enjoy retirement, downsize and tour our countryside, find a simpler way of life out of the urban rat-race, or even just find somewhere cheaper to live in cities where house prices and rents are soaring through the roofs. Many people are now seeing this as a viable alternative to the soaring purchase or rental prices in London in particular.

Depending how much room, what cabin and berth arrangements, the on-board features and gadgets, from a couple of hundred pounds to £100,00 or more, subject to the state of repair and complexity of fit, life on a canal boat can be achieved – waterfront living with a difference.
Whether you want to live aboard or just use it for leisure, a canal boat may just be what you’re after!

London On-Water will be at St Katharine Docks from Thursday 8th June - Sunday 11th June 2017.
